For a while now I’ve been a sucker for the high end of the beauty world (well, I’m not talking about Creme de la Mer… more items that are pricey for an nineteen year old…). As my luxe base collection has grown – more of my drugstore foundations have gathered dust, or even found themselves in the bin (gasp!). In a recent Boots’ haul, however, I picked up this Bourjois CC cream. Reading some pretty rave reviews, and enjoying the feeling of lighter make up convinced me to give this drugstore base a go, and although drugstore bases and I haven’t got on terribly well in the past, this beauty has started to redeem their name in my eyes.
The shade 31 – Ivory was the closest match for me, unsurprisingly the palest shade on offer, but still gives a good amount of coverage for a CC cream, all whilst giving you an SPF 15, perfect for everyday use whilst the weather is still warming up. I like to apply the liquid using my MAC 187 face brush, from what I’ve used I think a stippling brush works better than a buffing brush, since a lot of lighter products tend to be absorbed on denser brushes. As far as the 1 2 3 system goes, it’s not massively noticeable, and although it definetely brightens skin up, it struggles covering up dark spots and heavy redness on its own. Paired with a concealer it does a fine job of creating a flawless (realistically flawless) base, which is just what I’ve been after this month.
This little number has opened my eyes to the world of lighter, fresher bases, that give enough coverage to even out skin, but whilst allowing my skin to breathe. I’m pleasantly surprised easy on the purse has given me so much these last few months!
Have you tried the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC cream? Or is there something better out there?
