As you’re reading this I’m bound for Edinburgh on a super-seat sale ticket which I snagged for £24 back in August (yeah, that’s £24 return FYI – I do feel like someone who should be on one of those money-saving tv shows).
This won’t be my first time in Edinburgh (and hopefully not my last either). I fell in love with the city on a long weekend in 2014, and again last autumn whilst visiting one of my closest friends at university.

I love the vibe of the city (did I just say vibe unironically…) and how around every corner is something beautifully historic, right next to something that could easily be a new Instagram hot-spot.
On a fairly tight budget (that’s adulthood for ya) I plan to have the best time possible with my gal-pal, walking up some hills, checking out some galleries and finding some fantastic local eateries – which let’s admit is probably the #1 sign of a hip city (yeah, I just said hip).
I’m a little less prepared than I would like to be – mostly in terms of rainy weather attire, so I’m sure I will have a story or two about how I ruin my standard pair of trainers, or misjudge the sky and wonder out in open toed shoes to be down poured on minutes later…
I feel like I’ve jinxed it now.
I noticed that my stash of minis and samples was worryingly diminished as I was packing for the trip – thankfully I was wonderfully informed yesterday about Feel Unique‘s new(ish) Pick n’ Mix sample selection!
The idea is that you pick five free samples (some of them deluxe-sized) and only pay for shipping and handling, which, bonus, is then deducted from your next order.
It’s hard to believe that this hasn’t been done before – believe me, if I’d found out about it a week ago I’d have a great stash of samples to bring with me to Edinburgh. At least I know for next time!
Back to Edinburgh – I’m really excited to jump off the train, have a great natter and catch up with my gal, and then settle down for a comfy weekend. I’m planning to have plenty of chill time, sprinkled with Instagram walks, some cosy coffee shops and perhaps a few tourist attractions

I’d love to know if you’ve got any excursions planned in the upcoming months!
Have you visited Edinburgh before? If not, I’m sure you’ll want to after I bombard you with Instagrams and Edinburgh-based blog posts over the next week… hopefully.
