Although my nails went bare for around a solid month (we all need those breather breaks once in while), a mix of indecision and the bad habit of picking at my nails (thanks stress) eventually calmed down and the only two shades I’ve been wearing since that time are right here. A very autumnal and very classic glossy red is something I’d never really reached for in the past, but of late I’ve fallen head over heels of the matchy-matchy look. An iconic red lip (Usually in the form of Charlotte Tilbury’s Red Carpet Red), with matching nails feels like glamour to the max, everyday of the week, cause who says we have to wait until ‘party season’ has really kicked in? Radiant Ruby for Max Factors’ Gel Shine Lacquer range is to blame for this new obsession. Having never tried any of their polishes before, I was pleasantly surprised, experiencing high-shine (which unfortunately not all ‘gel’ formulas like to give) no chipping for a few days and a rich true red colour. Max Factor have a few darker, more seasonal shades out in this range and I am all for getting my hands on them soon (probably when the lipstick gets darker).
Something a little less traditional for myself is my impulse buy from the aisle of boots last weekend (in Edinburgh if that makes a difference, check out my photo diary of the trip…), Bahama Mama from Essie. Looking quite a bit brighter in the bottle, on the nails it’s a deep purple berry colour which is probably one of my favourite shades, get ready for this, ever. I’ve never had a shade like this before, it’s deep and rich but not so purple-purple that it can’t be worn in these colder seasons. I might have been completely oblivious to the berry nail trend (not the first time…) but if it hasn’t happened yet it’s definitely coming. Oh, and yes, I like to wear this nail polish with a berry lip, all matchy-matchy (can you tell it’s my new thing).
