Orange is a serious deal this year. I’ve had a little bit of an infatuation with it, to be quite honest with you. For a still relatively new make-up fanatic, it’s a daring colour to pull off, be it cool shades with blue undertones or vivid almost neon hues. My most worn pick is Topshop’s Infared Lipstick, which is a fairly cool toned orange, bordering on a bright coral. It’s not ultra matte, staying bright and well put for a good 3/4 hours before needing to reapply. If (like me…) you’re unsure if you can rock an orange pout (even though you DEFINITELY can) I’d give this a go, (or Topshop’s Ditsy, which is a nice and bright hot coral – you’d be halfway there!).
A glossier affair would be L’Oreal L’Extaordinaire Liquid Lipstick in Tangerine Sonate, I instantly fell in love with the oil formula of these; beautifully glossy without that sticky, tacky feeling. A shade very true to it’s name, I’m reserving this for those dusky summer evening barbecues (so I might be waiting a while by the looks of it).
After hearing beauty bloggers everywhere compare the Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blushes to painting an actual watercolour onto your cheeks I’ve felt a pang to get out my (make-up) brushes and get painting. The colour Trip looks garishly bright in the bottle, but when blended out onto the cheeks it leaves a gorgeous wash of golden orange, which looks best with a cool-toned bronzed look (no looking like a dorito on my watch!), natural and summery, one of my go-to looks right now!
My nail polish obsession definitely hasn’t been stifled by this trend either; I found the vivid shade, Mango by Barry M, which is currently gracing my nails. It’s bright enough but not neon, meaning it’s a great all round shade, day to night, spring to summer.
Have you dared to try this bright Spring/Summer trend? Are there any other orange hues I’ve missed, let me know!
