Pixi Skintreats: Glow Mud Cleanser

When Pixi extended their skincare products into a whole new range, Pixi Skintreats, I was probably salivating in front of blogger reviews more than I would like to admit. The line which had originally started as the Pixi Glow Tonic (which I still haven’t tried, shame on me!) has turned into a fully-fledged day and night skincare routine – cleaners, toners, serums, moisturisers, night treatments, eye creams and masks! I love skincare and as far as I was concerned, this range was right up my street, not to mention the tonnes of positive reviews from blogging greats. Realism set in when I was in M&S beauty hall (a must-go if you’re after Pixi, Rituals, REN or Stila) and decided I didn’t need an entire new routine, only a cleanser… and perhaps a non-essential like spray on moisturising mist, but more on that another time.

The Glow Mud Cleanser is a soft clay cleanser with 5% Glycolic Acid (there’s your exfoliating ‘Glow’) and soothing Aloe Vera. I say soft clay since on application and during cleansing it is very workable into the skin, and doesn’t sit on top and dry out like clay masks would do. I take a reasonably sized dollop and massage into my skin – it has a slight natural fragrance, but does not contain any artificial scents, colourings or parabens (also no mineral oil or alcohol – yay!). I tend to emulsify it a little and continue with the massage until I remove with a hot damp flannel (I love flannels).

I feel it’s gentle enough for everyday use, and would have no problem having this as my only AM cleanser! Iit’s applicable for evening use too, although I prefer oily cleansers or the PM. Despite the clay I haven’t found it drying on my skin The Glycolic Acid does a great job of removing dead skin cells and brightening up the face in the morning. If anything, it is making me want to try the Glow Tonic even more – I’ll be having it soon, don’t worry!
