Well, well well, isn’t this exciting? If you’ve read the title of this blog post then you’ll know that this is where I announce that I’m starting up a lil’ newsletter (and hosting a sweet giveaway to celebrate).
Before you start rolling your eyes and click off this blog post because ‘everyone and their dog is doing a newsletter these days’ or if you’re worried that I’m just gearing up to sell you something, just listen up.
Newsletters had a moment last year, but I think they’re still pretty cool. It’s about that extra level of engagement, building a little group of like-minded people and giving some of you lovely readers something extra. Although I’d love to give you guys really cool things like, I don’t know, valuable information or serious discussion, you’ll have to settle for what I’m planning.
The basic idea of the bky. newsletter is very simply an exclusive extension of this blog. Every fortnight I’ll be shooting into your inbox with a round-up of my latest content and a few pieces of exclusive content (which I’ll try and make useful) sprinkled with my top picks of the last few weeks, which again could be blog posts, hashtags, Instagrammers, exhibitions (#culture), anything that I’ve been loving.
Hmmmm. I mean, apart from that fact that no-one can get enough of my blog… I really want to build up a little tribe. Even though I don’t have a super specific niche, I’m certain that some of you reading this love chatting about anything and everything as much as I do.
It’s not just that though, I also want to give my loyal readers (if there are any other than my Mum) something extra. Some exclusive content, something special every now and again, something in your inbox that has a bit of value. There’s no other deep or bullshit reasons, to be honest – it’s about giving something back, initiating more conversation and sharing the bky. love a little bit further. Simple.
If you don’t believe that I have a plan, then this is where I’m going to blow you away. Believe it or not, there is going to be actual structure to each of my newsletters (which will be going out twice a month). It will be different each send-out, but for peace of mind about what you’re signing up for, check out my run-down of what the plan is.
A quick catch-up
I mean, probably just a hello, some sarcastic comment and then a falsely positive quote about carrying on. Seriously, though, I want to be more lifestyle so each fortnight this will be a little catch-up about anything exciting I’ve been up to, events coming up or some really deep realisations I’ve had about life.
You know in my bky. in 2018 post at the start of the month, where I mentioned I was starting monthly series? Well, signing up for this newsletter means that you’ll get exclusive bonus content. This month I’m talking about Aspects of Self-Care so on the first newsletter send-out you can expect an exclusive chat about another aspect of self-care – something that only newsletter readers will get (and I promise it’s gonna be good).
There will also be general exclusive content, seasonal musings, blogging discussions and little tidbits that only the best-of-the-best deserve to hear (that’s you).
Sharing the love
The blogging world runs on sharing our favourites – and that’s what will be next up in the newsletter. My favourite thought-pieces, the tweets that have made me laugh, books I can’t put down, Instagrammers that I can’t stop stalking… A perfect mix every fortnight of other amazing bloggers with their nose to the grindstone and absolutely killing it.
One week it may be the behind-the-scenes of a smashing flat-lay I threw together, another week it may be a BTS of writing a blog post, a day in the life of blogging or another project that I’m working on. A little insight into how I blog (if you care) and why I do some of the things I like doing. There aren’t any promises of groundbreaking methods, but you might just see something you like or (better yet) share your own BTS process when you’ve seen how terribly wrong I am doing something.
Okay, calm your tits. I’m not suddenly going to become the blogging guru because I’m far from it. I do dabble in a bit of graphic design though – do you know I design A Branch of Holly’s Blogging Breakthrough magazine? – so sharing a few resources that I use myself is harmless (and maybe even helpful for some). They won’t be around every newsletter, but I’ll be sending out free downloads to some great printable resources regularly – keep your eye out!
Again, this girl can’t be hosting a giveaway every newsletter, but I’ve got a couple more lined up before the summer already. Giveaways are a little way of saying thank you for your support, but also, they’re going to be a great way for me to shout about some amazing products or services that you might not know about.
Talking about giveaways…
If you’re not already convinced that this newsletter is going to be amazing, then I’ve got something else that might just convince you *winky face*.
