As soon as a new season rolls around, my make up bag seems to be the first to notice. Since the first few weeks of September my darker lipsticks and eyeshadow palettes have been itching to be used again. For the past week or so I’ve fallen back into a nice ‘everyday autumnal face’. For longer days I’ve been using the Max Factor Facefinity All Day Primer, which sinks into the skin quickly and leaves a smooth, velvety finish for your foundation to rest on. A new(ish) foundation I’ve been trying out is the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation, although I originally bought this in June it seems the day after being colour matched I’d actually gotten out in the sun… (I’m matched to Warm Ivory 1) now I’ve returned to my more natural shade I’ve actually put it to the test – the cards are still out however, there will definitely be an update soon. Heavier eye make-up is definitely ‘back’ this month, and I’ve been loving using my Naked 2 palette again. Last year I remember favourites being Half Baked and Chopper (very bronze and orange tones), whilst this year I’ve fallen for the cooler grey/silver tones, Suspect, Pistol and Verve, I think it has something to do with balancing out a bold berry lip, an iconic and very popular choice being Kate Moss Rimmel in 107. The shade of this lipstick is a perfect middle man between red and purple, not being too dark for day wear either. My only grievance is the scent of Rimmel products in general (is anyone else feeling this way?), thankfully it’s undetectable when it’s on your lips, I guess nothing can compare to that MAC vanilla – mmmm. Speaking of Rimmel, my Wake Me Up concealer is on it’s last legs, which no doubt shows how well loved it is; this is the only concealer I have repurchased and I’m literally on my way out to get another right now. With a really nice shade range, Ivory matches me well in summer and winter, medium coverage and excellently build-able, if you haven’t given it a go and there’s a concealer shaped hole in your life, get on it. To top my transitional make up off, my Real Techniques brushes are always getting some use, regardless of season, and now I am steering away from applying lighter bases with my fingers and heading into a little more coverage, the infamous buffing brush gets this done no problem, obviously.
These are just a few of my more seasonal favourites, don’t worry though, there’ll be plenty more as we roll through late October, November and… christmas time! Is it bad that I’ve already cracked out the christmas jumper stash (strictly for in-house use only!)?
What are your staples this cosy season?
